“Drum, Strummer Boy, Drum!” is a composition based on the popular Christmas song The Little Drummer Boy,  originally known as Carol of the Drum,  written by Katherine K. Davis in 1941.  In the spirit of this classic Christmas Carol,  “Drum, Strummer Boy, Drum!” requires the guitarist at times to treat the guitar as a percussive instrument.  The composer uses square note heads to indicate when the guitarist should strike or tap the guitar top,  side or bottom.
