“This urtext edition of 10 works by guitarist Agustin Barrios “Mangoré”, presented during Paraguay’s bicentennial celebrations (1811-2011), represents a starting point in the analysis and diffusion of the artist’s compositions and is the first official publication in Paraguay of works by Barrios. Participating in this edition, offering historical perspectives, commentaries and technical support are Paraguayan guitarist Felipe Sosa, founder of the modern classical guitar school in Paraguay, and Barrios biographer, musicologist, and guitarist, Richard Stover.”

This urtext edition of ten digitized versions taken from original scores penned by Agustin Barrios “Mangoré” is not only important, but also historically significant given this is the first publication of works by Barrios for guitar edited in Paraguay. The works are imbued with characteristics of a creator who at the time of composing showed indifference towards editing or publishing his works, thus depriving posterity of a great number of his creations.”
